We should labour to be found in Jesus not
in our own Righteousness but in the Righteousness
which is by faith unto all upon all them
who believe - We should labour for humility -
a proud man is no Christian and a wise man
will be humble - We should be instant in
Prayer knowing that our [indecipherable] is going about
[indecipherable]who he may [indecipherable] - We should be
instant in business fervent in Spirit serving the
Lord -

We are as a family well and enjoy
infinitely more than we deserve. We have con-
stant cause of praise and thankfulness to [indecipherable]
bountiful [indecipherable] - we are [indecipherable] in peace
and tranquility [indecipherable] makes us afraid indeed
while we have Jesus as our Captain what need
we fear - We feel very happy in our work
I am more happy in my work here than I
ever was while I lived in Port Jackson - I trust
that we shall at a distant period see the work
of God flourish here. This place is bound up
in the promises and what need we expect more
in order to this accomplishment of the promi-
ses than for Jesus to go forth in the
[indecipherable] of his everlasting Gospel and we doubt
not but he will prevail and may we not
reasonably conclude that he hath sent out
his Gospel to this land yea do we not know
it. Most assuredly the word whose Power is ef-
fectual toward pulling down the strong. [indecipherable]

work of Sin and Satan is sent here and in order
to its becoming effectual it must be [indecipherable]
and we doubt not but he who hath declared
that his word shall not fall to the ground
but shall prosper in the thing [indecipherable] he
hath sent it will bless his work here so that
soon we shall see the Kingdom of Satan fall
as lightening before this world.

With respect to our prospects at this time
they are most [indecipherable] this is however no obstruc-
tion to that God whose power is infinite.

Many of our number have fallen into [indecipherable]
and others are manifesting the Spirit of
the great [indecipherable] which has never been subdued
in them upon the whole we are like a cage of
unclean birds we are almost inclined to [indecipherable]
the Prophet "The wise man hath [indecipherable] out
of the land" - However I am encouraged to
look for better Days - "In the Lord shall all the
seed of Israel be justified and shall glory"

I think it will not be amiss for me to men-
tion to you some little of Mr. Sam C Butteres who
[indecipherable]he is going to the Colony to get a Wife
- He has lived on all opportunities with the New
Zealand women and what is worse he is bold
in his wickedness and [indecipherable] people to swear [indecipherable]
him - I have [indecipherable] with him much but I have
been treated with contempt Mr Hall has said a good
deal to him but all in vain in fact he is a most
wicked young man, glorying in Sin and that you may
know his character I write of him thus
