[MS 521]

Sydney 16th Dec 1822
My Dear Sir
Since the conversation we had a few days ago
on the subject of the Bible Society, my mind has been
repeatedly occupied as to what may be done to "strengthen
the thing, which remain, that are ready to die". And if I
may be allowed to state my opinion freely, I beg to say,
that the Male Committee of the "Parramatta Bible Associ-
ation" have proven themselves (deleted) * unworthy of being any
longer considered the medium of communication between
the Ladies Committee & the Auxiliary Society here. I therefore
take the liberty to recommend that Mrs Hassall, during
the remainder of the year, act as Treasurer as well as
Secretary. And at the next meeting pass a resolution to pay
all the money now in hand, whether in her own possession
or Mrs. Palmers, to Captn Piper the Treasurer of the Auxiliary
today - and continue the same from time to time as there
may be Ten Pounds on hand.

As it is a great pity that there should be any
obstruction (word crossed out) to the zeal of the Ladies, I think it very desirable that

To The Rev. Thomas Hassall
* The President, Treasurer, Secretary
other active members are of course exempt from this General Censure !!!!!
