2. C. [Christ] retained the confidence
of his disciples to the last ~

(a) They never reproached Jesus
with insincerity or faithlessness.

(b) Were sure he loved them &
meant all for the best.
Till the Soldiers bound him –
they adhered closely to him –
they only forsook him when
all was dark, & their faith failed.

(c) Even Judas never accused
his Master of wrong. Not
hardihood enough to call him
a deceiver. His repentance shows
what he thought.
