him with complacence, in degree.
Am always to be delighted by his ex-
-cellent char. [character], as a fragrant odor.

3. If benefactor – with love of grat-
-itude also. Can't have this without
both the other in some degree. Must
be persuaded he intends well by his gifts
& in this love of gratitude = love of benev. [benevolence]
love of complacence, love of the gifts as
contribution to our hap. [happiness].
