III What is actually the amount of
sympathy with God wh. [which] men have?

1 It is really very small – & because
it is so – they are ineffectual co-workers
with God – do little that he wishes.

2 Some good people are all taken up
with admiration of God – study of
his being &c. [etc.] – these are "Quietists" ~
(No activity.) [centered

3 Some think of naught but duties
to men – leave God & the desires of his
heart out of the account. Go on in
their own strength too much.

4 Others concern themselves only with
mans [man's] temporal condition – their reli-
-gion is all humanity – no God in it.
These would reform society to relieve
men &c. &c. [etc. etc.]
