nearer than when we believed,?

1 Not simply deliverance from the
evils of persecution &c [etc.], they were
suffering.

2 Not any specially [especially] new era of increased
light & knowledge.

Tho. [thought] that they might be about to have.

3 Not solely that Salvation wh. [which] one
is said to secure in the day of his
Conversion.

Salvation in one aspect is gained.
That can't be "nearer" – but the blessings
wh. [which] it will bring may be "nearer."
