Who said "soul thou hast much goods &c [etc.]"
was rebuked as a fool.

Who says that when he is rich he will be
happy – says what he does not know. He
may spoil his own char. [character] & heart, & so, his hap. [happiness]. ~

(c) Not that one may not find some
sort of delight solely in his abundance –
but that that course is, not to live – but
substantially to throw life away – &
to debase & inebriate one's
nature & harden his heart
and unfit him for true
and genuine living ~

This kind of indulgence develops the
selfish principle – blunts the sus-
-ceptibilities of soul – & leads uncon-
-scious men into miserliness & covetousness
under the guise of doing all this for
others – our kindred &c [etc.] –
