2. How vain is a life spent in
mere living existence – in mere animal en-
-joyments – mere self-seeking, & personal
gratification – & earth groveling ~
In the pursuits of worldliness & ambi-
-tion how little to satisfy the soul, to
reconcile it to itself – to fill it with joy –

3. How noble & god-like is it to
live for life – for the time ends of
living – for a life not ending with
life – reaching forth to infinities
overleaping the gulph of mortality –
fraught with all good – radiant
with all beauty – filled with all
fullness – joined in mystic union to C. [Christ]
who is the life – & interlinked with all
the glories of a reigning God. ~
