Our business is to endure temptation
Not that we should seek it – in
any form – not that we should
not pray against it –
but that when brought by duty or Prov. [Providence]
into it we should endure – i.e. –
Would withstand the evil & em-
-brace the right.

Learn to exercise a patient har-
-dihood – should school & train
our faculties to virtue.

The greater the enticement overcome
the stronger our principle becomes –
& the brighter the luster of our virtue.
