I What is the work here proposed
to be gone? (Ans. [Answer] Reformation.)
To turn one back from wrong-doing, or neglect
of right-doing, is to convert him, from his
wandering – going aside – missing the mark.
1. This is not a physical work.
(a) Neither springs from physical exertion nor
operates on a physical part. Can not
force men from evil-doing ~
2. Not a mere mental work ~
(a) Must involve intellect, & the more the better.
(b) Must affect the heart as well as t. [the] understanding.
3. Not a mere human work.
(a) God must aid by his providence & Spirit.
(b) Human efforts & Divine influence are
ever conjoined when man accomplishes good.
4. It is a work of moral power.
Effected by sympathy – by argument –
by voluntary persistence – by example.
