II For whom is the work pro-
-posed to be done?

For him that erreth from the truth –
for the sinner – for all that need to
be turned from any improper course.

1. Spoken primarily of the Brethren
of the church – for of those who lapse
into dangerous opinions or practices.
Should be doubly careful to recover
them for their sin becomes a reproach
to the whole body – & what is worse –
to Him who is its head.

2. May have application also to
any sinner who lives in open trans-
-gression against God – & is thus
putting his soul in the way of that
death wh. [which] the soul may die.
