Thus shall they be effectually hidden
– blotted out as a cloud from the sky –
banished into their forgetfulness – and
he who does it accomplishes what
all nature c'd [could] not do before ~

2. And He shall save a soul
from death.

(a) Not only that moral death wh. [which]
men die here. When they lapse into
stupidity & thoughtleness [thoughtlessness] & forget all
their manhood & their birthright & grow
insensible to all that is excellent –

(b) But from that horrible living-
-death wh. [which] transgressors while
mortal so often die – full of gloom
sorrow & scalding tears & harrowing
anguish – & ensuing agonies – & revolting
fury & gnashing teeth – – –
