3. May not do evil that good may
come. This is folly. It
never is done in the long run.
Its triumphs are but for a moment.

4. May not push our own ends
to the positive hurt of society.
Society is our friend – our guardian, our
Support – we owe duties to it as well
as to God. – When one may strike
his parent – he may inflict blows of evil
on human soc. [society], Law, & gov^t [government] ~

5. May not overlook the general
welfare of society.

We are bound to look after it. To
oppose every form of evil in it.
To see it well governed – to
foster & cherish every thing right
& good in the community ~
