III From want of Sympathy.

So ugly & hateful – none can love
it by itself – apart from its gratifica-
-tions. No man is loved as a Sinner,
but in spite of his sin.

We should as soon think of
loving foul fiends.

Misery loves company – but not
like company; – but one sinner has
no sympathy for another. Every sinner
despises his fellow –

Selfishness lifts every man's hand vs [versus] another.
Sinner even despises himself – much
more other sinners.

Very essence of t. [the] world of woe that they
are hateful & hating one another – as is
said of heathens – only more intense.
