-honored without peril. Whenever its
laws are violated, there enter aliena-
-tions, strifes, & jealousies into families;
the obedience, education, & happiness of
the rising generation are neglected; the
sanctions of private & public virtue
are impaired; and the bonds of
duty, order, & law are broken and
scattered.

In respect to the parties more
immediately concerned the marriage
relation is one, which, like the union
between body & soul, is properly broken
only by the hand of death. It shou ought
not therefore to be lightly or hastily
