We need refer only to the lands in
which various systems of Caste pre-
-vail, and to those in which half of
the able-bodied young men are com-
-pelled to fill up the ranks of standing ar-
-mies, to show how limited in our
world is industrial freedom, by
the powers that be. We need think
only of the hindrances imposed upon
youth by ignorance, by poverty, by
custom, by arbitrary rule, by self-
-ish exclusion, by prejudice, passion,
and greed of gain, to show how limit-
-ed is the freedom of the young in respect
to the choice of a calling in life, even
in lands that are advanced in civ-
-ilization, and proud of their liberties.
