In this way only can we testify on gratitude to the Redeemer –
fulfill our mission on Earth – exhibit the fruits of our faith –
and glorify our God; wh. [who] is the high end of all things ~

(b.) For the highest good of men; & God's glory
therein. The glory of the Deity shines in all that is excellent, lovely, & good.
But some forms of its exhibition far exceed others. Those most excel in wh. [which]
rational beings are concerned. Is he a Pub. [Public] Benefacr [Benefactor] who causes a a spear of
grass to grow where there was none – how much more he that produces a genial
growth where all was desolation? where the fire & fury of consuming passions have
devoured? – he who redeems the field from brambles, thorns, & briers, & makes it as
a garden of the Lord? that saves the human soul from the fiery Storm,
& the scorching heat & tempestuous rage of an overwhelming, eternal, curse!!!

Gods [God's] glory we may exhibit in a flower – but more, in a child well trained, an
immortal flower; what is a trellised vine – a woven honey suckle [honeysuckle] – a branching Eg-
-lantine in comparison with a lovely family, well-trained, affectionate, unity &c. [etc.]
What is a fine mansion to a new man – fine field to an new heart?
What is a Splendid city to a pure church – to show for the God's glory?
For the purpose of blessing men & gloryfying [glorifying] their Maker then, we are
to be laborers together with God ~

III In what Manner?

(a.) By walking with God. Living so as to please him.
Must lead a life of intimate commun. [communion] with Him. Enter into Gs [God's] plans.
Fill our thoughts with him. Become familiar with his ways. Know
the fulness [fullness] of his mighty heart –. Able to open the rich stores of Gospel
mercy. Learn to rely on God as constant friend, adviser, helper!!
He alone can give permanent success – he only relieve from discouragement ~

(b.) By sharing his love for souls – his interest in the wk. [work]
of Redemption. Without, earnest, true, cordial, love for human salva-
-tion; t. [that] wh. [which] we are called on to do will be irksome. Can't do that well in
which we are uninterested. Must love our work, or it will flag ~
Must love it or we cant [can't] engage in it in a right spirit – note this ~
