Their lips though somewhat thick yet are
not to heavy, their build is generally
very diffeent being much taller & more
slender than Africans. Many who have
adopted clean habits prove clearly
that their color is many shades lighter
than the Negros & some Indians.
But they are on the whole no doubt
a much coarser race than the
Hindoes or the Indian race.
That there is much beauty or elegance amongst
them or attractions in this person we
would of course not say, but there is
a considerable proportion of men
who are well formed, even powerfully

noble in their features. Nor were there
a goodly number of the women quite
