Wednesday the 23 Apl 1856 Finished plantig
Large field South of house in corn and
listed lot of 4 or 5 Acres North [as?] Corn Crib
to plant in corn Rained a fine
Shower to day

Thursday the 24th April 1856 Quite cloudy this
morning & looks as if it would rain
We are makeing fence btween me & I bothrd
putting Rocks at the bottom to keep the ground
pole off the ground & get the Rocks off of
the field We sent 10 head of
Dry Cattle to the Germany Pastures today
They are very poor and the grass short
in the pasture but we cant do any better

Friday the 25th April 1856 finished planting corn
to day We have manured 25 Acres in the Neill
pleasant growing weather not very warm

1 May 1856 Rained a light shower to day we set
out 1200 cabbage plants

Friday the 2May 1856 Commenced Replanting our corn
it has been rather dry for the best planting but the first
we planted has come up very well
Rained a good shower in the eveing

Tuesday & Wednesday the 7 & 8th May 1856
Rained a good season set
1200 cabbage plants

Monday the 12 May 1856 Commenced
plowing the corn the first time and
planting peas in the middle of each
row. fine growing weather but the
grass is so short we have to feed
our cows yet [?] [?] Straw
Berrys in the garden uesterday but not
many
