Monday the 9th June 1856 Commenced plowing
our corn the 3rd time At noon to day we
had a verry hard wind and Rain blowed
our wheat down a good deal We set out 1000
potatoe sprouts and Some cabbage plants
& then tined corn We were suffering verry
much for rain and our oats and Irish
Potatoes is cut off a great deal but the rain
may revive them so we hope to make a
moderate crop of each
Tuesday 10 Wednesday the 11th June Rained both
days hard Rains ground thoroughly wet.
Sold 150 Dog Oats to different persons in the
east 10 days for 12 1/2 cts Doz Sold Saml Spier
Two Milk Cows & Calves for $12:50 each
& one to Thos Carters wife for $15 00
Selling Corn at 50 cts I have sold out of the
Crib about 75 Bu at that price
Friday the 13th June 1856 Commenced
Harvesting in the field east of the
Store to day clear & cool
Saturday 14 June 1856 Plowed in our corn
until noon then cut Wheat
Monday the 16th June 1856 Cut wheat all day
with Shower all day this morning wheat too wet
to cut We plowed our corn until 8 OClock it
then set in to Raining hard & rained all
day in showers Cut no wheat today.
After it commenced & raining we worked in
the Barn moving some old oatsthat had been in
the barn 4 years
Thursday the 19th June 1856 Cut wheat with
4 cradles tto day we had Albea & Frank Foster
hired to cut & Bind at one dollar a day each but
did not help us much Sorry hands under too much time
