Saturday the 16th 1857 negroes planted their
patches in cow plamed our potatoes & hoed Them

Monday the 18th 1857 Rained a good reason lost
night with eald rortle East wind this morning Ha
ground too wet to plow planted out some cabbage
plant, cut ea al wood at shap sent To mill
+ done up little jobs generally

Tuuday the 19th May 1857 still raining
in small showers all day ground very
wet no work done in the corn for
several days to come

Saturday the 23rd May 1857 the ground still
too wet to plow except in the hyhest poit
of the field, we have been plowing ow the
ridges + turning in the middle of two or three
of our feilds + have plowed out some
middle, + crop plowed a little in The Cassel
feild but not done breaking middles get
sTill cool + occasionally Cloudy so The ground
dries verry slow,

Monday The 25th May 1857 ground dry enough
to plow again ran & plows in punde field
breaking middle, the rest of the hands replanted
corn the 2nd time in The bassel field The
Greeb worms destroyed a great deal of
the corn planted in that field

Tuesday The 26 May 1857 finshed breaking
out middle, + planting peas to day
we have planTed 100 Acres in peas
betwen The Cow raws
Commenced Crofs plowing today
in The bassel field corn verry
small
