yesterday + today ground verry wet

Friday the 28 August Commenced
breaking wheat land been Too dry
until now and it is verry late
stored 4 2 horse turning [plows] in the
afternoon ground rather wet

Friday the 4th [] 1857 Been plowing with [] farm
plows all the week ground rather too dry we will
wait until it rains been verry cool for a week
past we this week mowed about 3 []
of meadow at the Jarvis plae[] + cleaned it off []
we made a [cargo] stuck of hay worth $10 +
cleared it off in three days with [] hands + the little
crowd killed a small beef today Bacon is rather
scarce and we want to make it hold out

2nd Crop of hay with [] hands the others
halling wood + clearing [] old field when
we intend [mowing] wheat Too dry to
plow verry cool for the season

Wednesday the 9th Sept 1857 mowed
+ halled hay we made about
12 gals [] from the chinese lager
came John Taylor made [] a mill
to prep the juice out + it makes [] gal
of [syrup] to 8 oz juice + is verry good
