This was the first ice we have had this winter
we have not got our house [illegible] thaw 1/3 full
(23 (theres [illegible]) the [illegible] melted very
fast to day but there is a good deal of it left

Weduesday the 17 Feby 1858 warm this morning
snow melted fst until evening it [illegible] snow
cooler. Done but little work to day to muddy

Thursdat the 18th Feby cooler today and quite
cloudy snow melted but little choped coal
wood to day

Saturday the 20th Feby 1858. Rained and drizzled yesterday
all day quite could and at night sleeted and snowed a little
but clear this morning
killed an old sow we have had in fallowing for the past
6 months she weighed 216[illegible] quite cool today and windy
chopped in the old [pine?] field east of [illegible] to day
note sick yesterday and today

Monday the 22nd Feby 1858 rained and hailed all day in the
evening sleeted same and at night snowed a little quite
cool all day done me work out doors

Thurday the 24th Feby 1858 quite cold this morning
there 21 [illegible] cold [illegible] evening there [illegible]
choked in old [illegible]

Thursday the 25th Feby 1858 still cool in the morning but
pleasent after noon made fence around the old field
eastern part of the plantation to [illegible] the snow and
fail is still lying on the ground in the woodshaded
places

Saturday the 27 Feby 1858 cleaning up the briars [illegible]
in the field at [illegible] to day hail and snow not all
gone yet [illegible] mornings but plesant after that
