Thursday the 28th April 1858
commenced planting the barn field in
cor with one set of hands [] two
wagons + ox cart halling manure
some frost this morning but not
as much as yesterday all the fruit dead
corn that was up all killed

Friday the 29th April 1858 planted corn with
one set of hands [] 3 wagons + ox cart
halling manure on the corn hills
warmer today no frost this morning
had two horse colts and 2 mule colts
castrated today by John [] turned
our colts into the cassel pasture yesterday
for the first time we have 7 mule colts
one year old two horses colts two
years old and two one year old and
one Lenny colt one year old they are
all fine well grown and in good
condition

Saturday the 1st of May 1858
Sent 12 head of dry cattle to Germany
pastures they are in fine condition [too]
heifer one black + one shotted no horn took
the bull today
run 3 plows listing the lower end of the barn
field and two wagons + the ox cart
halling manure on the corn hills

Monday the 3rd May 1858 Rained a verry
hard rain yesterday evening and made the
ground too wet to plow or haul manure

Tuesday the 4th May 1858 Rained moderately all
day until evening it poured down for hours
washed our land worked up the corn + so
thoroughly [] the ground we cant plant corn this week
