Wednesday the 5 May 1858 too wet to do anything
in the fields [] up manure in the barn
yard put leaves on the irish potatoes

Thursday the 6 May 1858 still too wet to
work in the fields cleared + plowed the
old field east of the plantation for patches
for the negroes

Friday the 7 May 1858 too wet to plant corn
halled some manure on the hills + [] our [lawn] plow
breaking up

Saturday the 8th May still too wet to list or plant corn
we planted some corners on the hill side between the gulleys
in the barn field near the branch this afternoon
finished breaking up to day we worked
the road yesterday + today with 5 hands

Monday the 10th May 1858 here is the 10 day and we are
not done planting corn yet the ground has []
got so we can plow [] 6 plows listing the
barn field + one set of hands planting finished
listing by noon + started 2 sets of hands to planting
+ one wagon halling manure on the hills
the first cut we planted in the barn field is
some come up + some washed up [] a week
+ 2 days since we plowed or planted any corn
The trees that the frost killed the leaves in bare get
but the leaves that the frost did not kill is [fall]
grown and all the corn we have planted
has come up fine + nice Henry Foster
commenced shearing our sheep today we have
32 to sheer they are verry nice sheep we
have 11 lambs this spring they are verry [] +
well grown

Tuesday the 11th May planted corn + halled
manure with all hands
