Wednsday 11 Aug 1858 we have choped the heavy
timber about one acre on the Yatewe lot +left
the oak timber plowed it up today
still dry + hot ther 91 deg
our corn is fired to the shoot in many places
and some of it is entirely dead cannot make
a half crop of corn crop in the pastures
dead except the low places

Thursday the 12th Auf 1858 were two plows in
Tatem lot dug potatoes + worked on wagon
shed at the corn crib
THE HOTTEST DAY ther at 98 1/2 at 3 oclock
+ 92 at sundown at two was a light
sprinkle of rain enough to lay the dust
which had become verry bad
for 15 days past the ther had been to 90 deg
+ abocce every day which is the longest
hot spell I remember ever seeing

Friday the 15th Aug 1858 sent all hands to
help Wiseman thrash wheat except danill
+ Mary pats sick we had 3 good showers
of rain in the afternoon ground verry wet

Saturday the 14 August 1858 Patt still sick
helped Dr. Wiseman thrash wheat as yesterday
sowed one acre in the latein lot in crop
(orchard) seed + turnip seed in the afternoon
plowed up hald an acre in the potatoe patch
for turnips
every thing looks verry much revived from
the rain yesterday cloudy + cool to day

Monday the 16 Aug 1858 sowed 1/2 acre in
turnip seed in the potatoe patch
but throw bushes + draged item of the
tulford pasture dry potatoes

tuesday the 17 Aug 1858 sprouted
the fields we watered 2 owing in wheat
