Friday 22 oct 1858 finished sowing the winter oats in Cherry orchard

Saturday the 23rd commenced gathering corn
in barn field with all hands and halling
corn stalks

Wednsday the 27th Octr 1858 finished gathering
corn + pulling up stalks we made this
year about 1200 BU corn not half a crop
we about 35 acres of stalks cut off that
made about 60 wagon loads [] large stacks
of the best stalk [fodder] I ever saw no rain
to damage it from the time it was cut
until halled + stacked we have it put up in
verry good stacks + [toped] off with straw
I think it will keep verry good + []
sprinkled a light shower of rain in the
night but not enough to make the ground
plow only half done sowing wheat yet

Thursday the 28th Oct 1858 commenced raining today at
noon good season

Friday the 29th Oct 1858 rained from noon
yesterday until this morning steady + hard
the ground is thoroughly wet for the first time
since the 12th July shucked corn today
the ground too wet to plow

Saturday 30th Oct 1858 too wet to plow
shucked corn all day

Monday the 1st Novr 1858 Run five
[] plows in the [] field breaking
for wheat little force shucked
corn[s]

Tuesday the 2nd Novr 1858 Rained again
last night and today
