some no work but

Wednesday 22 Dec 1858 cleared off this morning not
verry cold choped

Thursday 23rd Dec 1858 clear + cool this morning
killed the ballance of our hogs 21 weighing 3017th
makeing in all this year 42 hogs weighing
7869[] pork the whol lot of 42 hogs averaged 187th

Friday 24 Dec 1858 salted our meat today
rather warm for the meat
[] wood + choped

Saturday the 25 Dec 1858 give all hands
[] day until thursday morning next

Thursday the 30th Dec 1858 all hands went
to work this mornnig it was raining until
noon then went to chopping warm + wet + muddy

Friday the 31st Dec 1858 rained all
night and is still raining this morning
verry hard the roads are verry mudy
and the ground full of water
cleaned wheat in the barn today and
done up other little jobs
So ends the year 1858 which [] the whole
has not used us so bad we made a sorry
corn crop about 1/3 of a full crop but we
has good crops of wheat oats + hay and
sowed a great deal of good fodder
we sowed our wheat verry late but the season
has been verry favorable and it now looks well
and may make a good crop we have had good
health no case of chills + fever or billores fever this
year + only one case of [] fever in the family
