S.E. Hollis, Esq.,
33, Henry Taylor Court,
Old Ormesby,
Middlesbrough.

Dear Mr. Hollis,

I felt that I should personally write to thank you for the
wonderful contribution which you have made in the preparation of the
D-Day book which I am writing. It is really heart warming to get
such co-operation and indeed it is expecting a great deal to ask any
man to try and remember the happenings of fifteen years before. So
I am especially thankful to you for helping as you have done, not only
in answering the points on the questionnaire - some of them indeed of
a rather personal nature - but also because you took the time to allow
us to interview you.

It may very well be a full year before the work is completed,
but at that time a copy of The Reader's Digest, containing the story
"The Longest Day", will be sent to you.

Thank you too, for lending us your copy of "The Story of the
Green Howards - 1939-45" which I am returning herewith. I found this
very useful and it was very kind of you to allow me to keep it so long.

Yours sincerely,

(Cornelius J. Ryan )
