taining a proper proportion of clean, sharp sand and no
gravel larger than one and one-half inches.
Mortar for Face and Top.—The mortar shall be com-
posed of one part Portland cement and two parts clean,
sharp, coarse sand.
This coat shall be neatly struck, "floated" and trow-
eled to exact even surface with edge returns of one inch.
All the work shall be protected by proper barricades
and fences so that neither person nor beasts may deface it.
No cement work shall be done in freezing weather.
The curbing will be paid for by the linear foot of fin-
ished surface in accordance with the proposal hereto at-
tached.
In the prosecution of the work herein specified care
shall be taken at all times not to interfere with business or
travel more than is absolutely necessary for the faithful per-
formance of the work, and egress from the streets to all
stores, hallways and gates shall be provided for at all times
and during the times that travel is closed at any point a
temporary walk shall be provided. Said walk to be at all
times in condition, perfectly safe for pedestrians and easy
of access from adjoining walks.
No cement shall be used on this work unless approved
by the City Engineer. For this purpose he shall be entitled
to take samples from each package. The decision of the
City Engineer shall be final in all cases and no cement con-
demned by him shall be used on the work for any purpose
whatever. All cements must be required to pass the tests
noted in specifications for cement for Fort Worth.
Transverse Slope.—The top of the curbing shall have a
regular slope of one-half inch toward the gutter.
GENERAL CLAUSES AND CONDITIONS.
The contractor shall, at his own expense, provide and
deliver, all materials, furnish all plant, tools, "forms,"
equipment, labor, and all appliances necessary to prosecute
