On motion it was resolved that proper
testimonials be procured and sent to Dr. Henry,
Mr. Yanke and Mr. N. M. Jacob for their
valuable services to the Congregation
in connection with the Consecration and
the President and Vice President were
authorized to act as a committee to procure
the same.

On motion it was resolved that the Secretary
write and transmit a letter of thanks to
the Ladies Hebrew Benevolent Society for their
valuable presents to the Congregation.

No other business appearing the meeting
adjourned.

Sacramento, June 5th, 1864

A special meeting of the Congregation was
held, the President, Mr. Elkus in the chair.
The President stated the first object of this meeting
to be the election of a Shochet, Chazzan and
Teacher as Mr. Silberstein's time had
expired and the second object to be
the consideration of a rule to allow ladies
and gentlemen to sit together during
services at the synagogue.

Mr. Franklin moved to reelect Mr. Silberstein
for 6 months at a salary of 100.00 dollars
per month.

Mr. D. Harris moved an amendment to elect him
for one year.

A substitute offered by Mr. Levy to postpone
the election for one month was lost.
Mr. Harris amendment was adopted, but
was on motion of Mr. Davis, who had voted
with the majority reconsidered and lost.
