MINUTES OF TRUSTEE BOARD
OF
Durham State Normal School

The meeting was held in the office of the Chairman,
W. J. Brogden, Friday, June 20, at 2:30 P. M. The fol-
lowing members were present:
W. J. Brodgen
J. B. Mason
N. C. Newbold
R. L. Flowers
On motion of R. L. Flowers, seconded by N. C. Newbold,
the Board of Trustees was authorized to borrow $5,000.00
from the Citizens National Bank for 60 days to cover cost
of putting in sewerage for the school. Mr. Newbold was
authorized to secure from the Superintendent of Public In-
struction, Mr. A. T. Allen, a letter to be attached to the
note showing the authority of the Board in borrowing this
money.
The Principal of the school, J. E. Shepard, was
present and made a formal report of the condition of the
school to June 1, showing the money needed in order to meet
current expenses to July 1. By order of the Chairman this
report was made a part of the minutes and is herewith at-
tached. The Principal then submitted a budget from July
1, 1924, to June 30, 1925.
The budget as modified upon motion of R. L. Flowers
seconded by N. C. Newbold was approved and made a part of
the minutes. On motion of R. L. Flowers, seconded by N.
C. Newbold, it was authorized that N. C. Newbold and J. E.
Shepard buy a range suitable for the school.
On motion of R. D. Flowers, Dr. Shepard was directed
to prepare and submit to this Board an amended budget show-
ing the necessary expenditures to be made for the preserva-
tion of the property and the carrying on of the work of the
Institution and the repairs necessary to be made on the
property. This amended budget is also to carry the appro-
priation needed for sewerage and water.
On motion the Board adjourned to meet at the call
of the Chairman when such budget is ready for submission.
