Thomas W. Stanford Esq.

Melbourne.

Dear Brother,

Mrs. Stanford and I
leave Washington tonight for New
York and shall there take the
steamer for Europe where we
expect to travel for two or three
months. My health has not been
as good as I could desire in consequence
of an attack of the
“grippe” which has affected my
legs and hearing. It is the latter
difficulty which gives me the most
inconvenience for I have no doubt
that my legs will come around
all right.
