be as compensation for tuition. I think
that if you explain my views to Mr.
Doyle he will recognize the propriety
of not allowing his generosity the affect
in any manner the poorer students.

I am glad that you enclosed
me a copy of President Whites letter in
regard to board. I feel confident that
our present system may be very much
improved. It seems to me that so

ought to be able to furnish a good table
with fair variety at $3 or even less
per week. But I think if we allow
the students to board themselves they
will be better satisfied and we shall
be relieved entirely of trouble. On
my return to California we will give
the matter careful consideration.

Yours very truly
