for the position of Professor of Chemistry in the University, I am a graduate of Bethany College [Jr.?] Virginia of the class of 1871. I was elected Tutor of Chemistry in the "[N?]H. College of Agriculture and the Mech. Arts" an associate institution of Dartmouth College, in August 1871. In 1873 was chosen associate Prof of Chemistry and in 1876 Professor of Chemistry which position I have held for thirteen years making my connection with this college [seventeen?] years. I have had some experience in the organization of Laboratories, having assisted in that at - Bethany College, and nearly full charge of the one at Dartmouth College.
