My Dear Sir:
I write to introduce to you tthe Rev.[?] B.Noble, D.D., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of San Diego, who feels a deep interest in the cause of higher education. Some of our San Diego youth are among the students who matriculated at the opening of your university, and there are others preparing to enter next year. We know them well, and can say that they give promise of a creditable record as students and of useful and honorable lives.
And now let me say that words cannot express the delight with which Mrs. Gunn and myself read the account of the Opening Ceremonies. In these days of flippant agnosticism and of infidel pretentions to science, it was truly refreshing
