that the theological seminary in question
be established at Palo Alto by the ap-
pointment of one or two professors who
would give special instruction in the
lines in which they might be interested,
but who would have no organic con-
nection with the University and would
simply be granted the privileges of the
University Library and Lecture Rooms,
and the student they might have
would be admitted on the same basis
as other students to Sociology, Greek,
English Literature, Ethics and the other
subjects taught in the University.
This would enable the very small sum
given by Mr. Throop to become effective
by letting the income from it be devoted
to the special work of the church alone
and letting the University do the rest.
