We dined at Mrs Charles Fairchild's last evening,
and many old Cazenovians, with the Seminary Professors
were there - we talked much of you and the noble
soul who is now in bliss. Miss Dows sent
special messages of condolence. I am glad
that dear Mr. Stanford's fine Portrait occupies the
place of honor, right behind the pulpit, in the
Seminary Chapel. It looks as if he would speak.
Was it not beautiful in him, to have saved San Francisco
from the crisis of peril as the last act of his
noble life? In telegraphing the President, he did this.
I speak in the Church to-day, and shall pay a
eulogy to the dear departed. I can speak with
a full and overflowing heart, my precious friend.
Hattie joins me in a heart full of love and sympathy.
I woke thinking of you, and of dear Mr. Stanford and darling Leland
in Heaven, where dwell my beloved. Must affectionately & Gratefully yours Sarah B Cooper
