Dear Sir:
Your note regarding attendance at the funeral exer-
cises of Mrs. Stanford has reached me. In reply I wish to
say that it would be possible to accommodate you with a re-
served seat in the section reserved for the press, provided
you come as an official representative of the San Jose Mer-
cury. If you are able to send or bring a statement to that
effect you will be escorted to a seat among the press repre-
sentatives. Otherwise, I do not see that we can accord you
exceptional privileges.
