I entered feeling awed with
the idea of being in such sacred
historic presence. This all at
once vanished and in its
place came indignation
at such neglect and I began to
accept the little bunches of the
poor little marigolds (the only flower
that we found there) from each of the
gentlemen as they made their offering
[to] me! Then as we all wondered on
I began to wonder if it was any of the
stars (these were grand) now there
that our blessed Jesse knelt under
when he left his [ ?] that night
to pray for us - When lo! as I passed
under the shadow of one grand old
knarled [sic] olive tree I was seized with
a violent trembling and another
this is the spot - kneeling I asked
