In your last
letter you mentioned
wanting to secure a
maid and companion
that spoke German
and French - if Bertha
is not with you any
longer, as I infer. I
would like to recommend
to you in Bertha's place
Miss Anne Held,
who is a strong, healthy
capable person who
speaks both French &
German (she is a
German woman)
Miss Held has been
governess for my son
Ulysses' family for
about eight years. She
has also travelled with
some young ladies of
New York, I know, as
