many deeds of benevolence. The
poor and afflicted, without respect
to creed or nationality, were not
afraid to call on him in their
difficulties, and he never sent them
away unrelieved

I was so much impressed in
hearing so much of the noble
character of Mr. Stanford, that
when I heard of his death, I
could not help exclaiming "Oh!
my God, is he dead!"

Hoping that his charity to
others is now a source of joy
to him in the eternal realm.
