couldn't even have a candle. we [--coul--] cooked in the street for a month in the wind fog and rain up and down stairs. Strange to say we all kept well, but we all feel and look twenty years older - and so dirty. have had the gas in for a week. I have two gas plates that we cook on and heat water for a bath "which we take in sections." We had our chimneys inspected today, But haven't permission to have a fire yet - haven't had a fire in the house since April 17th. All we have to eat is what we can boil or fry.
