other books, one of which I need right away but owing to the high price they charge here for it I had to go to the trouble and delay of sending east.

We had to buy coal the other day, and this fact added to a large item of expense for books which I have to get Monday ($1.40), besides the high amount we have had to pay for board the last two weeks has left me with but $2.75 to run on the rest of the month. I will be penniless by the end of the week. However I guess I can borrow until you send me $15 t he first of the month. I hope so.

Write soon to your loving boy - - Jewell
