my sleeping quarters at home.

I was so restless, sleepless, and last, but far from least, so annoyed by mosquitoes that I had to get up at one o'clock, and read for an hour to induce sleep. My remedy was efficient. I slept like the proverbial log, however that piece of wood may be presumed to sleep.

We - Speddy and I - took all day to straighten up our room and make it look presentable. The boys, as usual, admire the excellent little array of books (chiefly of Chatauqua) that nestle so invitingly upon my shelves.

We have a good set of boys here this year. I am the only old one here, excepting of course Father. We have two Fresh-

men among us, 3 Sophs, 2 Seniors and one sympathizer namely - the cook. We have lots of fun out of the Freshies (this is a collegiate term of endearment), and we hope in time to persuade them to go out on dark nights without being fearful of the lurking and scheming soph.

I have had a great deal of difficulty in arranging my work this year. I have decided in the main to take Law, Economics, English and German. I will take more English than Law. As my course is now arranged I shall have a great deal of hard, hard work. But I am prepared to work harder
