death. To sustain himself in relentless competition the man of the future must be the college youth of the present. I thank God that I have been given the privilege of the higer education.

During the last few days I have been summing up the various blessings that I enjoy and I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving as I recite them - A kind, loving, self-sacrificing, sympathetic, generous - (adjectives are poor indeed) mother, a thoughtful and charitable aunt, kind relatives, loving friends; another blessing is the privilege of a college training. And then I possess failry good health - an unlimited wealth of ambiition, some industry, ordinary intelligence, and above all the use of my faculties. I have that most important adjunct to the student's life - a pair of good eyes. And towering above all these blessings I have the Pearl of Great Price - I have a religion which - as far back as my active Christian life extends, has always been my mainstay and Gibraltar.
