I guess we are able to stand a little good fortune after undergoing all the trials we have endured thus far.
I had my picture taken last Saturday, before one of the great circular beds of tropical plants which adorn the quadrangle. As the picture was taken out of doors in the morning sunlight the left side of my face does not precisely coincide with the right; one half of my features is in repose, the other is influenced by the glare of the sun. You will observe tehis in the proof that accompanies this letter. If you like the picture very well, I can have half a dozen finished in carbon style for one dollar - cheap! Tell me whether you like the proof or not.
Well I must go down to the R.R. station now to get my birthday gift. And you must tarry until I return.
see next page for divers expressions of gratitude.
