The stamps too came in the nick of time, as I should have been compelled to buy some to mail this letter with.

The $10 also was a judicious and strategic move on your part. I should have been under the disagreeable necessity of asking for some money in this letter, if had not sent it. The box of paper and envelopes are also useful and in constant demand.

Altogether your generosity this year far exceeded your remembrance of last year, and I am proportionally thankful. Next year I suppose ---- but the pen fails me. I'll get enough though, I suspect, to keep me out of want for a dozen years.

Well, I must close now as I can think of no further expressions which may reveal my thanks. I will be with you a week from tomorrow.
