was an excellent time, but it showed everywhere a conscious effort on the part of the speaker to justify the antique customs of our sister college. In several places he very cunningly contrasted Stanford and U.C., and tried to show the superiority of the latter in several lines. And in that part of his address every Stanford man disagreed with him most heartily.
