Irvine bought a Gibson picture for Elsie. What Mrs Irvine do you mean? I did not know that Mr Irvine was married. The last I knew of him he was a prosperous grocer, and still a bachelor. So his wife presented Elsie with a picture. Who was Mrs Irvine before she was married? Was she Miss Joyner?

Concerning the rugs. I thought that probably three or four rugs could be bought for as many dollars at an auction. Has Mr. Gaskin any? The reason I do not care to purchase a carpet or

matting is because I shall not occupy this chamber of horrors after this semester. If a few rugs were obtained these would answer the purpose, and would be useful wherever I should take up my lodgings.
